About Sara

I’m Sara Webster, CEO and co-founder of Think Bambu, a growth marketing agency built for ambitious challenger brands. My career has spanned marketing strategy, commercial leadership and agency life, always driven by a deep curiosity about what actually makes businesses grow. At Think Bambu, I lead new business, operations and finance, and oversee key client partnerships across finance, fintech and specialist B2B sectors. We work with brands who have genuine ambition and aren’t afraid to put real effort and budget behind achieving it, the kind of clients who want sustainable, intelligent growth, not just quick wins. Day-to-day, I love the discovery phase: getting under the bonnet of a brand, finding the friction points in a funnel, the missed opportunities in a content strategy, the positioning gap a competitor hasn’t spotted. That’s where the real opportunity lives, and turning it into measurable results is what Think Bambu does best.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve received?

Back yourself…but always bring the data. The most confident decisions I’ve made have been the ones I could prove as well as feel. Instinct matters, a lot, but combining it with evidence is what turns a good idea into a great result.

What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career?

Learning to be selective. In the early days of Think Bambu, the temptation was to say yes to everything. The real turning point was understanding that working with the right clients – those with genuine ambition and budget to grow – is what makes the work impactful and the business sustainable. Saying no to the wrong fit is one of the best things we ever did.

What’s a skill you’re currently developing?

Financial leadership. As Think Bambu scales, I’m investing more in truly understanding the commercial mechanics of our own growth. Not just for our clients, but for us. I want to be as fluent in the numbers as I am in the strategy.

What would people be surprised to learn about your professional journey?

That I genuinely love the audit phase. Most people assume I’m the big-picture, ideas person – and I am – but I get a real buzz from digging into data, spotting a hidden friction point in a UX, or finding the keyword gap a competitor has missed. It all comes from my Paid Search background. The detail is where the real insight lives.

What does “success” look like to you right now?

A team that’s energised, clients who are genuinely growing, and a pipeline that reflects the kind of work we’re best at. I want Think Bambu to be known for sustainable, intelligent growth – not just quick wins. Right now, success means building towards that with real integrity.

Quick fire

Tea or coffee? For 40 years it was tea, but now I love both equally – it depends on the time of day!

Early bird or night owl? Night owl. I really don’t like early starts and love working in a still office after hours

A book, podcast or show you’d recommend We’ve been producing the Think Bambu Podcast for just over a month now, and even though I’m undoubtedly biased, I think it’s great!

A show I’d recommend? I’d have to say Ted Lasso. Not just for football fans, this show teaches life lessons, leadership and empathy and kindness in spades. I never get tired of watching it and worth paying for Apple TV on its own.

If you weren’t doing your current job, what would you be doing? I’d really love to have been a sports writer. Getting to watch sport till my heart’s content and write about the things I love would be a pretty good back up to running Think Bambu
