Women Ahead is proud to celebrate 25 years of supporting and empowering women in business and leadership. Our 25th Anniversary Gala, taking place on Friday 25th September at the Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa, Dundee, will bring together members, partners, business leaders and supporters for an evening of celebration and connection. All are welcome at the Gala.
As part of this special milestone event, we are delighted to welcome a number of distinguished speakers who will share their insights and perspectives on leadership, community and creating positive change.
We’re also proud to be supporting our charity partner, The Archie Foundation, which provides vital support to babies, children and families across Scotland. Funds raised through the Gala will help the charity continue its incredible work, supporting families through some of life’s most challenging circumstances.
Meet our speaker: Councillor Mark Flynn
We are honoured to welcome Councillor Mark Flynn, Leader of Dundee City Council, as a speaker at the Women Ahead 25th Anniversary Gala.
Mark has represented the Coldside ward since 2017 and has served as Leader of Dundee City Council since September 2024. In his current role, he acts as Convener of the Council’s City Governance Committee and Chair of the Dundee Partnership Forum, helping to shape the strategic direction of the city and strengthen collaboration across public sector organisations.
Throughout his career in local government, Mark has led policy development in several high-profile areas focused on tackling poverty and reducing inequalities. He has also championed partnership working to improve health and wellbeing outcomes, recognising the importance of local government, health services and community organisations working together to address the needs of local people.
Prior to becoming Council Leader, Mark held a number of significant leadership positions within Dundee City Council, including Convener of the Neighbourhood Regeneration, Housing and Estate Management Committee and the City Development Committee.
His commitment to improving outcomes for communities, driving collaboration and addressing inequality has made him a respected voice in Dundee’s civic and public life. We look forward to hearing his insights at our Gala as we reflect on the importance of leadership, partnership and creating opportunities for future generations.
